A renovation is a sequence, not one installation date
The duration of a full kitchen renovation depends on design decisions, product lead times, site preparation and the number of trades involved. A realistic plan should therefore include time for decisions and procurement as well as physical installation.
A practical sequence
- Define the brief and budget.
- Finalise the kitchen layout and product specification.
- Order cabinetry, appliances and materials.
- Prepare the room and complete any required building or trade work.
- Install the kitchen elements that need to be in place before templating.
- Template the stone worktops.
- Fabricate the selected stone.
- Install the worktops and complete the agreed finishing work.
What can cause delays?
Late design changes, unavailable materials, site readiness, access restrictions, changes to plumbing or electrical work and measurement changes can all affect the sequence. Stone fabrication should normally follow a confirmed template, so the kitchen needs to be ready for accurate measurement.
How to make the process smoother
Confirm responsibilities in writing, approve materials early, provide accurate site information and make sure the installation area is ready for the agreed template date. For premium stone, decide on the material and key details early enough for sourcing and fabrication.
